I decided to use Groningen as my base for the Assen TT. Groningen is about 17min away from Assen via train so is pretty convenient. The Novell TTP meeting was here in 2013 which I wasn’t able to attend. In the afternoons (when I got here and when I got back from the circuit I’ve been doing a bit of wandering around the town to see what it is like etc). It is a really nice place and has a very friendly feel to it and has mostly old buildings which all have plenty of character.
One thing that I think is pretty cool ... being a university town ... they use eduroam for their wifi. I found my phone kept on picking it up all over the town, that was super cool. I didn’t know for starters until a few push messages appeared then I realised what was going on then I used it when out and about. It wasn’t everywhere but I found quite a bit of coverage.
I'll post a selection of pictures with descriptions and info pertaining to each where applicable. It wasn’t easy to get far enough back to take pics of some of the churches & Vismarkt you can’t see much unless you are inside the stalls then it is cool. Most of the good shots were more suited to mornings, but I wasn’t able to do that in the mornings as had other plans, so I had to do the best I could.
