I left Munich on time but somehow we had delays, my train got in an hour late, so we were told to get off and change at Plzeň, had to then change onto another train a few platforms over, along with everyone else heading to Prague, which was LOADS of people. Annoying to loose an hour out of my day, oh well – these are things you can’t predict happening. On the 2nd train I had a power plug at my seat so connected my laptop up and then my iPhone to it as well so I could at least charge both so when I got in they were more juiced up. Weather was warm and muggy and pretty cloudy, was a bit of sunshine but I couldn’t see any blue sky. The sky got blacker and worse looking as we got towards Prague.
When we arrived it was only but PISSING down hard. Took me a while to figure out how to get things sorted. Took money out the ATM, bought a 20min Tram ticket for 24CZK, eventually found and then got drenched (and my case and backpack did too) heading to the tram stop. Found my accommodation OK. Settled in and then decided to go exploring, the weather then eased and it was nice for the rest of the day. BONUS !!!
I carried on my sightseeing the following morning early to get some photos before the masses of people did, I went up to the castle on the 2nd day and looked round there for hours. Prague is quite small (a good thing) if you wanna see the tourist stuff, it is dead easy to walk to things and quite easy to find stuff. That being said it drizzled at one stage when I was wandering and walked in the wrong direction when trying to get to Wenceslas Square, wasn’t too serious.
Had a few traditional Czech meals while here and enjoyed a Monastic Special of St Giles No. 3 beer from U Tří růží which was a Monastic Brewery. I tried one of these Trdelník things here, which is a rolled sweet pastry, was tasty. Bought some stuff from the local shopping center for my one lunch and for my journey. Looked round there for new strops, the one sport shop had but only 1 size above me and up, drat as they were nice and a good price. Oh well, my others are still surviving.
My accommodation was in Old Town which meant it was very easy to get to and from everywhere, was maybe a tad noisy at times (will comment more on the general Airbnb post at end of trip).
